Dealing with Dupuytren’s contractures
For many people the issue is more irritating than debilitating.
You are encouraged to continue using the hand as normal.
There is little evidence that physiotherapy will help slow the progression of Dupuytren’s contracture. If you are unable to lay the hand flat on a table and the issue is limiting you at home, work or doing the things you enjoy then seek guidance.
Invasive options such as injections and surgery are sometimes offered. These do not cure the issue and do not guarantee a long term solution but are still something to think about if you are significantly affected. Please see the decision making tool about these options. This does not replace a good assessment and discussion in person though.
